And there I thought you'd be too busy to ask!

As I mentioned on the 'home' page, I used to work as a chef. It's a hard life and I loved it. The hours, the sweating and swearing, 'getting slammed' in waves and the 'mucking around' (errm, I mean prepping and cleaning) in between, the heat and intensity of each shift... sigh. I've also worked as a bartender, as a Functions Coordinator and as a Bar and Restaurant Manager. Of all those roles, I miss cheffing the most. I do think about going back to cheffing every now and then (I had to stop due to an accident from which I've now healed - phew!), but I love what I do now as well. And I love that the creative and precise aspects of my first career are important aspects of this one.

On the academic side, I have a Bachelors degree in Business and Communications with a double major in marketing and advertising. I studied cooking within months of completing my degree and received my Diplôme de Cuisine from Le Cordon Bleu (fancy pants way of saying 'certified to cook'). While cheffing, I began studying design at a well-recognised design school in Sydney (The Sydney Institue of Design: Design Centre Enmore).

Over the last five or so years, I have worked in both the hospitality and design sectors (mostly concurrently) and while I have enjoyed it, I cannot run from graphic office to kitchen or bar job to graphic studio forever... pots&pens is about finally bringing two of my passions together into the same room. Oh, think of all the time I'll save by not commuting!

In any case, I love what I do as I'm sure you do as well. Life's too short to do otherwise. I wish you and your business all the very best and I hope I can be a part of your success.

Warm Regards,
